My old man decided that he'd like check himself in a nursing home because he feels like he's going to be a burden on me and my family. As much as we tried to explan, he's not budging, so we're respecting his decision. As part of his decision package is to gift me everything he has, including his house and his savings. Now, he doesn't know how things work and neither do I, so, what's the best process to make everything go smoothly?

For me the easiest way to handle it is to talk to an estate or elder-law lawyer, they can set up the house and accounts properly. Its also worth looping in an accountant so you don't get hit with unexpected taxes. That way, your dad's gifts go through smoothly and everything's legal.
